What is there to see in Rhode Island and Connecticut?
A whole lot of ocean and churches. We had a really calm day today; mostly site seeing while driving. We really like Sunday drives, which fits in great with road trips! But we did make a few stops before reaching the hotel in Fairfield Connecticut.
Grace Episcopal Church
We stopped in Providence Rhode Island first to see the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul. It is under extensive construction and we weren’t able to get in. While there, we met some sweet ladies that told us about Grace Episcopal Churchso we walked down the road a few blocks…but it was closed…right then, we saw a man leaving through a side door and he was so nice to let us enter and look around for a bit.
This is a beautiful Gothic style church with a huge impressive organ. I don’t know if Providence is always like this because we passed through on a Sunday…but it felt like a ghost town…and I loved it.
Lighthouse Point Beach
Welcome to Connecticut! I felt like we needed to see another lighthouse while on the east coast, and there is one at this beach! Two actually, but one is pretty far in the distance. I thought there were some pretty areas here. My husband wasn’t very impressed with this beach but it looked like the place to be for locals on a Sunday. There were a lot of family parties going on.
PEZ Visitor Center
This little visitor center has a ton of PEZ “artifacts” and history. They make candy here too and I am a huge factory fan, so this was a fun random stop.
Brick + Wood for Dinner
This is such a fun restaurant with a myriad of food options and flavors. I had the watermelon tower which was amazing. It had mozzarella and a cream sauce that went so well with the watermelon. For dessert we got the peanut butter trifle. It was also excellent.
We stayed in Fairfield Connecticut tonight. I’m going to be honest, it was very nice to have a chill day today.
