Day 22, 22 Days Across the USA

Sleepy Hollow

Sleepy Hollow Cemetery

This is the coolest cemetery I’ve ever been to! The folklore behind the location gives it a very unique feel and Washington Irving is buried here.

We enjoyed wandering around and seeing all the older headstones.

Then we found the sleepy hollow bridge that’s in the cemetery. This bridge wasn’t around back in the day, but apparently it’s the closest location to where the old one would have been. This bridge was built to sound like the headless horseman is ridding across it whenever anyone drives over it. Pretty awesome.

The Dutch Reformed Church in the cemetary is so old and has great history as well.

Lunch Time!

Right next door to Sleep Hollow is Tarrytown New York. We found a Greek restaurant here called Lefteris Gyro. We both got Gyros and they were phenomenal!

We stopped to check our the Hudson River and by the time we got to our hotel, it was already getting late. I’ve found that it takes a lot more time to get anywhere this side of New York. The city looks beautiful though and we can’t wait to see more of it tomorrow.
