What is there to see in Vermont?
This is a great place to drive through. We loved all the small towns and rolling green, tree filled hills. Today was a very easy going day. We didn’t plan many things; just stopped by random sites as we saw them.
Paper Mill Village Bridge
Vermont has so many covered bridges and I love all of them. This is the first one we saw.
Green Mountian National Forest
We drove through a good portion of this forest today; very scenic and relaxing. There are beautiful lakes in the mountains with some residential areas on the waters edge; I could live there quite happily I think.
New Morning Natural Foods
We found this place randomly. It feels like a gas station store when you first walk in, but it’s all natural and organic food. In the back, they have a juice bar. My husband got some freshly squeezed apple juice and could not have been happier. I got a fig bar that was awesome. We love random stops!
VINS Nature Center
This is a raptor preserve/bird rehab/educational center. There are nature trails, live presentations, a raptor enclosure area, and one of my favorite things…a canopy walk! Along the canopy walk we saw a river otter playing in the river below. There is also a spider web looking net hanging over an abyss that you can hang out on and an even taller tower that gives a great view of the surrounding area. This is such a beautiful location.
Joseph Smith Birthplace
This stop was totally unplanned. I didn’t even know it existed until this morning. We were driving by Woodstock Vermont; Sharon is right above it which rung some bells in my mind. So we looked it up to see if there were any historic sites and found that there’s a visitor center and a memorial. This place is so cool. It’s in this beautiful remote location and we even got to take a golf cart ride through the forest to see some more historical sites. Awesome!
Kitchen 56
Dinner time! This restaurant is in New Hampshire, but close to our hotel in Vermont. It had great ratings, so we decided to give it a try. Everything was phenomenal. From the poutine to the dessert. The server recommended the fish tacos as a main dish. I have never had such tender, melt in your mouth fish. Delicious. This was an awesome way to end a great day!
